Doug Johnson

Mr. Johnson is the 4th generation of his family to live in Alaska. He has over 30 years experience in various aspects of planning and management in both the private and public sectors. He is a graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks in Geological Engineering and the Burklyn Business School in Entrepreneurship. Prior to joining Professional Growth Systems (PGS) he planned and managed geophysical exploration programs for the oil industry, led applied research programs for the University of Alaska’s Geophysical Institute, and successfully developed and sold businesses in the private sector. Mr. Johnson is also a seasoned Angel Investor in a variety of start-up companies doing business domestically and internationally. He has literally traveled around the world and experienced the global economy firsthand.

As a former partner in PGS, Mr. Johnson applied his abilities to a wide spectrum of enterprises. He consulted in the launch of Alaska’s first biotechnology company, worked with scientists from Stanford Research Institute to commercialize new technology, helped companies grow their businesses in virtually every sector of the economy, and led multifaceted governmental streamlining initiatives.

He is a certified facilitator of the Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac entrepreneurial development program.  He is a founding member of the Project Management Institute, Alaska Chapter. He was a delegate to the first U.S./U.S.S.R.: Citizen Summit in Washington D.C., and a former Board Chairman of the Renewable Energy Alaska Project.  His current and former board membership includes: Alaska Center for Energy and Power, Nanook Tech Ventures, and Alaska Accelerator Fund.
