DNR Announces Innovative Climate Resilience Partnership with Myno Carbon

We’re thrilled to announce our groundbreaking partnership with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to revolutionize carbon removal and forest health in Washington.

Read the full DNR announcement here.

 What’s the Plan?

We’re teaming up with DNR to turn forest waste into valuable biochar—a carbon-rich product derived from forest restoration byproducts. This biochar not only sequesters carbon but also reduces the risk of wildfires in the region.

 Tackling Wildfires & Carbon:

Through this innovative collaboration, we’re taking unmerchantable slash residuals from DNR-managed timberlands to produce renewable electricity and biochar. This locks away carbon and helps prevent wildfires, all while promoting soil health and reducing the need for chemical fertilizers.

A Win-Win for Everyone:

Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz is excited about this win-win approach, saying, “This bold, innovative partnership has the potential to be a cornerstone of our commitment to resilience in the face of climate change.” It’s about creating jobs, capturing carbon, and restoring our forests!

A Greener Future:

But that’s not all! Our CRF will produce biochar, renewable electricity, and green jobs for rural timber communities in Washington.

What’s Ahead:

We’re aiming high! In 2027, our first facility will kick into full-scale biochar production, processing sustainably sourced biomass to generate biochar and renewable electricity. This is a step towards a greener, healthier future for all.
